How “Fire Safe” is your home? Have you done any or all of the following to make sure you and your family are as protected as possible from the threat of fire in your home?
· Do you keep matches in a locked or high cabinet away from children? · Have you educated your children to stay away from hot things on the stove or outside grill? · Do you turn pot handles away toward the back of the stovetop? · Do you use outlets safety by NOT overloading them or plugging more than one extension cord into an outlet? · Have you replaced frayed or damaged electrical cords? · Are your portable heaters at least three feet away from anything that can burn? · Do you unplug small appliances when not in use? · Have you installed smoke detectors on every level of your home and near each bedroom? · Do you test your smoke detectors each month? · Do you have a fire extinguisher on every level of your home and especially in the kitchen and garage? · Have you made sure that every exit in your home is free of obstruction? · Do you have a list of emergency numbers by each phone in the home?
